Don't forget to submit entries for our Summer Photo Contest!
Merit Badge Counselors are essential to the Scouting program—they guide Scouts as they explore new skills, careers, and hobbies, and help them fulfill the requirements to earn merit badges. Whether you’re a professional in a specific field, have a lifelong hobby, or simply a passion to teach, there's likely a badge that matches your expertise or interest.
You don’t need to be an Eagle Scout or have Scouting experience—just a willingness to help and a desire to make a difference in a young person’s life.
I invite you to review the list of merit badges.
As you will see, our Troop has quite a few MB Counselors, but we have had several retire over the last couple of years and there are some gaps in what we can offer. Frankly, we always need more! The time commitment is not large. Usually, you will be asked to work 1 on 1 with a scout during a troop meeting going over the requirements for the badge. Occasionally, I may ask if you are available during a Merit Badge night at a Troop meeting to work with several scouts at a time. (You can always say No.)
Thank you for your continued support of Troop 137.
Yours in Scouting,
Joel Evans
